Documentation for a Subrogation File

Our adjusters are trained to put a file in order as soon as they receive the paper file.  They organize the facts first then prove up the claim to make sure all documentation is in the file.  Below is the minimum information needed to work a subrogation file:

4     Listing form-A form that lists the Adverse, their address, claim amount, date of loss, insured name, and claim number.  Most clients today will design their own form that will pick these fields up in a mail merge.

4     Police Report/Loss Notice-The facts of the loss are the most import part of the documentation.  Liability and even possible insurance coverage can be determined from this part of the documentation.

4     Estimates-Proof of damages is necessary to either file a claim with another carrier or suspend the adverse drivers license.

4     Drafts-Proof of a loss has occurred.  Once again this information is necessary to prove up the estimates.
